Intro to Fly Tying with Steve Swift – $60

Hatch Match’r’s very own Steve Swift will be conducting an Intro to Fly Tying course at the shop.  This 4 hour class is designed for the beginning fly-tier wishing to learn the basics. Students will be introduced to various fly types, selection of hooks and materials, and the proper use of fly tying tools to complete basic flies, whether wet, dry or streamers. It’s expected that this course and the accompanying set of skills will serve as a gateway to tying more advanced flies in the future.
In this Course:
– Steve will explain, in detail, the basic tools used in the tying process
– You will learn and practice the elements of proportioning a fly with various materials, so that the finished fly looks and acts appropriately both in and on the water
– You will explore and become familiar with a variety of available materials and tools for fly tying
– You will leave the class equipped with the fundamental skills needed to expand the craft of tying
– You will learn the basic fly tying techniques necessary to tie nymphs, dry flies, streamers and leeches
Materials, Vises, and tools will be provided to all students.  If you have your own tools and vise, please feel free to bring them.
