Growing up in the Okanagan, Randy loved fishing the local lakes and finding nearby streams to explore. Since fishing was his passion, he spent many days out with his grandpa and friends, learning the local secrets. Randy later married his wife, Laura, who also had a passion for fishing. Together they moved to the lower mainland where they started a family. As life got busier, Randy had less and less time to fish. After working at Save-on-Foods for 18 1/2 years, and teaching fly tying out of his basement to add a little extra income per month to provide for his family, Randy decided to open up his own fishing tackle store, Hatch Match’r Fly and Tackle in 2004 to continue what he loved to do the most. The store was located in Maple Ridge by the Mac’s convenience store on Dewdney Trunk Road but later moved because of the need for more space to expand. Hatch Match’r has now been located at #9 22935 Lougheed Hwy. for 7 years and is still expanding its business. Randy has a vast knowledge of the local lakes and rivers and will do his best to answer all of your questions. He also enjoys fishing for sturgeon in his 20’ Hewescraft and spending his time fishing with the family on Sunday afternoons.
